Trade FAQs

Q: What items do you accept for trade?
A: We accept CDs, DVDs and books of any genre so long as they are in good physical condition and have a current online market value. We also accept video games.

Q: How do you assign value to the items I trade in?
A: Your trade price is based on the current online market value for each item.

Q: What kind of electronics can I trade for? Are they new?
A: We only sell new electronics and the most recent iPod models. All featured products are brand new in the original packaging with the factory warranty. Our online catalog features some of the newest top-selling electronics, however this is just a sampling of what you can trade for. To request a product you would like to trade for that is not listed on our website, simply contact us via our Customer Service Center and let us know!

You can also trade for cash, or credit at our online Music, Movies & Books Shop.

Q: I keep my CDs in a binder, so I have the liner notes and CDs, but no jewel cases or back cover artwork. Is that OK?
A: Yes! We now accept CDs & DVDs even if they are missing their original packaging. However, keep in mind that you can only get the maximum amount of credit for CDs in jewel cases with both the original artwork, the liner notes and the back page.

Q: I purchased some of my CDs through a record club such as BMG or Columbia House, is that OK?
A: Yes, we will accept CDs from record clubs assuming they satisfy the rest of our criteria. Because these CDs often have an unusual UPC, they may not translate in our Online Trade Calculator. However, you can still send them in for credit.

Q: Can I do the trade deal even though I'm in a different state/country?
A: Absolutely, but keep in mind that the customer is responsible for shipping their CDs, DVDs and books.

Q: I only have 100 items to trade but I want an electronic that requires more. Can I still trade?
A: Yes! In such a case you could either pay the remaining balance or send us more CDs, DVDs or books.

Q: Can I just send you a list of my CDs, DVDs & books so you can tell me which ones you'll take?
A: Sure! Just enter the UPCs into our Online Trade Calculator. PLEASE NOTE that we will have to physically inspect all of your items for damage before we will confirm the trade amount; We cannot promise to accept any items based solely on your list, but we can give each other a much better idea of what to expect.

Q: How long do I have to wait to get my new electronic?
A: Our turn around time is quite short; electronics are drop-shipped directly from the distributor and we often ship iPods less than 48 business hours from the time we receive a shipment.

Q: How long is this trade deal going to last?
A: This is not a limited time offer; it is a permanent service offered by our store.

Q: What happens to trade-ins that you decline?
A: Declined CDs, DVDs or books are sent back to the customer upon the customer's permission. The customer can also choose to leave them with AbundaTrade.com to recycle.

Rip Service FAQs

Q: What is the Rip service?
A: AbundaTrade.com converts your music CDs into a digital music library organized by artist and album. You send us your CDs and we send back your choice of digital music files (like MP3 or AAC) --playable on most digital playback devices and digital music software.

Q: What does the service cost?
A: Our conversion service is just $1 per CD and .50 per CD to load to a device (iPod, Zune, Hard Drive). We also offer archive storage for an additional $9.95 per year.

You are not required to make a payment when you place your order. Payment is arranged at the completion of your Rip Service. We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards.

Q: How do I load my music onto my computer?
A: Just insert your DVD into the DVD drive of your computer and copy the files over to your hard drive. From there you can add their location to your favorite music/media software (like iTunes or MusicMatch). The DVD comes with an easy to follow guide as well as our phone number with extension and email address for technical support.

Q: How do I load my music onto my iPod or other music player?
A: Your digital music library arrives ready for use on your iPod and nearly all other music players. Generally, you can load your player in three simple steps:

1. Save your music onto your computer.
2. Import the files into your music management software (i.e. iTunes, MusicMatch, etc).
3. Use your player's music management software to sync your player with your computer.

Consult your specific player's user manual for more details.

Q: Are the digital files AbundaTrade.com returns to me CD-quality?
A: Yes. Our default configuration for converting your CD collection (192 kbps) is considered to be CD-quality and allows users to increase the number of songs they can fit on a given device.

Higher or lower bitrates should be selected depending on your storage requirements and your personal listening preference.

Q: What does AbundaTrade.com do with scratched or damaged discs?
A: We make every effort to convert scratched or damaged discs and in many cases we are able to successfully convert them. Obviously, there are instances when we are unable to work with damaged CDs. We offer to repair them for $3 per scratched CD. If it is unrepairable the rest of your collection will be converted as normal and your damaged CDs will be returned along with your music library and the rest of your original CD collection.

There is no charge for unprocessed discs. Incomplete CD conversions are considered unprocessed.

Q: How long will it take to process my order?
A: The time it takes to process your order depends on the number of CDs you convert. We generally process orders within 2 business days from the date we receive your CDs—not including shipping time. Larger orders and busier times can take longer.

AbundaTrade.com will keep you apprised of the status of your order via email, so you will know what you can expect.

Q: What is the minimum amount of CDs I can send?
A: You must send at least 10 CDs.

Q: What audio file formats and bitrates does AbundaTrade.com offer?
A: By default, we offer the MP3 format at 192kbps. This format is compatible with Apple iPods and nearly every other digital audio music player.

Advanced options include MP3 at 128kpbs and 160kbps, as well as the AAC format (popular among some Apple iPod users) at 128kbps and 256kbps at no extra charge.

Q: How do I send in my CDs?
