Millennium Music says Farewell to Charleston,
FeedYourPlayer.com says Hello to the World

Charleston, SC - Independent music store Millennium Music will be closing down its brick-and-mortar business shortly after its 15th Anniversary on April 22, 2008, in order to focus solely on its online only operation, FeedYourPlayer.com.

Millennium Music's foundation can be traced back twenty years, at the dawn of CD technology. At this time, the music retailer was called CD Superstore. CD Superstore was sold to Borders Books, and the independent Millennium Music was spawned from the CD Superstore crew. Millennium Music progressively upgraded to larger stores and multiple franchises. Until it's closing, it will be headquartered in 14,000 square feet of prime retail space in the heart of downtown Charleston, South Carolina.

Rumors have been swirling for some time concerning the future of Millennium Music, and until recently, its owners and managing partners had been unclear as to the business' future plans. They have made the final decision not to renew their lease at 372 King Street in downtown Charleston, and plan to move to a warehouse outside of the downtown area to continue running FeedYourPlayer.com, an online music service store.

"I am very proud of what Millennium Music has achieved over the past 15 years," says managing partner Kent Wagner. "It is my hope that we can make the last two months of Millennium Music as fun and successful as possible. We plan to have a big 'Thank You Charleston' sale in April and will begin our move at the end of the month."

"I think one of the things Millennium's closing will bring up is the issue of the loss of forum," says an anonymous customer. "The record store was our mecca for cool; the pulse point of our cutting edge - which for our age group was undeniably music. More than politics, more than any other social phenom, music has been the symbol of who we are. To not have a place to go - even though we don't (as evidenced) do the hang anymore to the degree we once did - the loss of the option to do so will shake a lot of people significantly. We are all becoming such independent agents aren't we? Such a disappearance of a sense of community. That's what I'm trying to say here. Loss of community; forum. This will hit our age group pretty hard. Get ready for the onslaught..."

"Thanks for being a part of the Millennium Music story with us," says Wagner. "We look forward to a deserving and satisfying ending to Millennium and have great anticipation for the FeedYourPlayer.com journey we are just beginning."

FeedYourPlayer.com was launched in January 2006 as the global revitalization of Millennium Music, and has been growing ever since. FeedYourPlayer.com is an online music service store that sells new and used CDs and DVDs, and also allows you to trade in your old CDs and DVDs for new electronics, or convert your CD collection to a digital library for your computer or MP3 player.
